We’re an enrichment co-op. We do not teach any of the basic subjects {reading, writing, arithmetic}. You may use whatever curriculum you like at home! We enjoy having a good mix of homeschooling families!
We host a monthly book club where the kids enjoy a variety of activities related to our current read. We plan field trips to local spots. We have STEM days where kids get to build and test their creations. We have artist study days where your child will be able to show their creativity through art projects tied to famous artists. We plan holiday parties, service projects, educational fairs, and more. Because we meet at local parks, many families stay for several hours after co-op to have lunch and play together!
Children ages preschool through 3rd grade are assigned into groups based on age/grade. Each group has 8-10 children. Mothers are assigned to the children’s groups to teach or assist. We are all on picnic blankets in the same area or on tables under a pavilion-so you’re never far away from your children. All the groups do the same activity, just tweaked to be developmentally appropriate. Younger siblings join in! Many of us have babies, toddlers, and young preschoolers. We plan some age-appropriate activities for them to participate in or they play around/with the other kids.
This simply means we use a conservative Christian worldview mindset when selecting books for our book clubs and planning our events. We will start each meeting with a quick prayer and we love to be able to tie science lessons, book club discussions, and service projects back to Him. We have no affiliation to any denomination-we collectively love Jesus. Before co-op, there is a short mom’s bible study for anyone wishing to join.
We meet every Tuesday at 10am at various parks in our area. Field trip locations vary. Our official schedule will be available at our “Meet the Families” night in late July.
To build community, there must be some sort of regular attendance. We encourage weekly attendance. However, we understand illness, travel, and the unpredictability of young kids! We open up registration for new families in April for the new school year. We accept 25 families each year and have a waitlist in the event a family can no longer attend. Families attending irregularly may not be accepted for the following year.
Only if you’d like! Scripted lesson plans and all materials to set up are provided to teachers. All you have to do is show up! We just ask that each mom help participate in co-op days in whatever way you feel comfortable. For some, that’s leading a small group through an activity or assisting with leader’s children. For others, that’s helping with clean up or passing out supplies. If you have an idea, skill, or lesson that you’d like to lead our group in, please let us know!!
There is a family fee of $60 per family per year. Co-op fees are non-refundable. Field trips may have a separate admission cost. We are mindful to keep things low-cost though, and strive to limit the number of “admission” events. Payment can be made via PayPal, check, or cash. There may be an occasional sign up for snacks, etc. for party days or service project donations.
The family fee is a general supply fee. This money will be used to buy specific materials for book clubs, artist studies, STEM days, parties, etc. This cuts down on having to have sign ups for each meeting, allows us to purchase necessary supplies & snacks for the group, and makes it easier to just show up to meetings. If there is any money left at the end of the school year, we will use that amount towards our field day!
